Q: I have eaten very poorly over the past several years and I am making a commitment to follow a healthy diet and I was wondering what foods I should eat? - Joan

A: I am so glad you are making the decision to change your lifestyle with a healthy diet. You will reap the benefits with a better immune system, lower blood pressure and cholesterol and a healthy weight. Here's a list of foods you should consume:

  • Grass fed, organic dairy products - milk, cheese, butter
  • Free range eggs - rich in fat soluble vitamins
  • Fish oil - High in EPA/DHA
  • Coconut oil - High in MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides)
  • Fermented products - sauerkraut and kim-chi - high in enzymes
  • Sprouted grain products - Ezekiel 4:9 Bread
  • Organic fruits - choose at least 2 per day
  • Organic vegetables - several per day, use raw, in salads, steamed and juiced
  • Ocean fish
  • Organic nuts and seeds
  • Free Range beef and poultry
  • Tropical fruits, papaya, pineapple, mangoes, coconut- digestive aids
  • Pure water - half your body weight in ounces

Eliminate white flour and white sugar products. Don't consume high fat fast-foods, hydrogenated oils and canned foods. Avoid frozen dinners and boxed, packaged foods that are high in sodium.
